To say that we are independent people, Jerry and I, is probably an understatement. We function well together, but we are used to being apart. We would spend days sometimes weeks apart both prior to marriage and after. So a BIG question that some people asked and that I thought about was: can we be together? all the time? what will that look like?
We are almost 8 weeks into our nomad life at this point. We have shared one space that we have lived in and both worked remotely from for 8 weeks. We have shared one car for 5 weeks (so he couldn’t drive for 3 of those weeks, just a technicality). Through it all, We. Still. Like. Each. Other. !!!!!!
Without a commute to work, Jerry instantly gained 10 hours a week of being “home.” Whoa. 10 hours. When we ditched owning a home we gained a few hours a week of not having “house stuff” to do. At times now if feels like there is too much time. Like I should be doing something or like I am forgetting something. I really struggled with it for the first couple weeks and now I have embraced it. I read. We do puzzles. We go for walks. We (I) watch football. I nap. Jerry codes. It works for us.
All in all, we are still enjoying each others company and we are excited for the next stops on our journey. A bit more time in Michigan, a stop in West Lafayette/Lafayette and then the beach is calling 🙂
More later, NB
