To the next spot we went, Napa Valley, California.
The 25th of Aug, we had to go through ATL, DTW, SFO, rent a car, drive the Golden gate bridge (the scenic route covered in fog), and then what seems like desert next to a lake. Pretty much a full day event of travel, and no crazy stories for you here, but it is beautiful.

I’ve never been to Napa Valley and I expected a lot more green due to it being wine country, but instead it’s green spots all over hillsides where it looks like the grapes stole all the water.
And I’m used to corn everywhere in Indiana, for those of you in Indiana, just replace all the corn with rows of grapes, and it’s about the same, except hills, lots of hills on each side.
Nicole found an ice cream place called Cream, where you can select your own ice cream sandwich combination! It was pretty good, but I realized, I just really want the ice cream.
Monday, 8/26, officially started the “remote work” option and it’s been kinda nice. Hotel desk with my new travel Taiwan mug (Thanks Judy!) and a view out the window.
Communication is definitely changing, and although it was great to be able to sit face to face and figure out what happened or what to do, this seems to give me a bit more time to think more in depth of a problem instead of quick fixes that just push the bigger issue down the road some more.
It’s also giving an option I think I’m really going to like, flexibility on time. I can work 2-6 hours early, then take a longer break during the day, and work 2-6 hours later at night without feeling like all I do is work. Or however it works out. If I’m stuck on a problem I can keep working, if we made plans in the middle of the day I can work around that too. Thanks Andy for giving me this option!
This first day, I worked in the morning then we drove to Mondavi and tried to find Clos Pegase as they had an architecture thing going according to random web searches. We called it Close Pegasus, and they do have a Pegasus theme, and upon finding it we used their bathroom and ditched as it seemed a bit closed. No clue, we moved on.
Then of course when in the mountains with a rental car, really any vehicle, I feel you must drive up and down the fun twisty roads.
After an early dinner, couple more hours of work, sleep, another block of work, we packed up and headed back to San Fran for a few days.
Note to self: Stay longer in each place, simply to not have to repack the backpack so often.
