Dallas…Georgia, not Texas

This picture comes to you from the 3 H’s: Heat, Humidity and Hills!
When you ask JLB if he wants to go on a walk with you and he says yes. He then comes back a couple minutes later and says “we will be right by a creek…” and you just answer with “yes, you can bring your fishing pole.” Yes, he travels with a fishing pole. Yes, he currently has valid fishing licenses in 3 different states and counting. Yes, he may have a fishing problem. It could be worse is what I tell myself.

In the past 7 days we have done a fair bit of traveling. I went from West Lafayette, IN to Oglesby, IL to Chicago to Atlanta. Jerry went from Taichung, Taiwan to Hong Kong, San Francisco, Dallas, TX to Atlanta. We have been settled in Dallas, GA since Monday/Tuesday visiting family. It sort of feels like a vacation week and like we will return to our regularly scheduled life next week. Pretty sure when we head to the airport on Sunday and fly to San Francisco (somewhere I have never been and am super excited to go) I will have another Dorthy, red shoes, not in Kansas moment yet again. It won’t be the first one on this journey and it certainly won’t be the last.

This week I have had to work hard at getting my brain to slow down. You don’t realize how many things you juggle in your brain, but when you remove the “distractions” you realize how much time you have to think. (I still haven’t decided if me thinking more is a good or a bad thing.) We have eliminated a lot of “noise” from our world. No house to maintain. No yard to be mowed. No car to work on. No pressure to be somewhere at a certain time. I truly never realized how much time I spent making lists in my head to make sure that everything got done. Now I am faced with the question of “what do I fill that time with?” Currently, I am just trying to stay present in each and every moment. And I am back to coloring. Adult coloring books. They may save my sanity on this journey. Or Jerry’s sanity. The jury is still out.

More later, NB
